Book Tagged

So, I really do love reading. For me it is a way to escape from my own life and get lost in an entertaining plot. This is probably why I enjoy childrens literature so much, it is easy to get lost in the story and they usually are fun to read. Well, I feel the same way about the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. At first I wasn't at all interested in reading it, my laurels kept telling me I should though. Then one of my laurels mom's suggested that I should read it and let me borrow a copy. I have to admit it collected dust on the floor of my room for a month. Then it was time to fly to Montana for Christmas and I thought I should try reading it on the plane. Well, it didn't take long before I was lost in the story and not worrying about anything else except that eventually this book would end. I finished it in a few short days and then went to the Borders in Bozeman and bought the other two in the series. I didn't love New Moon until the end and I appreciated Eclipse but didn't love the "love triangle". As you can tell, I just love Edward. I am very much excited to read the 4th book coming out in the summer. I am currently reading Twilight again and so it was closest to me when I was book tagged. On page 123 in the 5th paragraph it says, "The Cullens? Oh, they're not supposed to come onto the reservation." This is when Bella is at the beach with her friends and she gets Jacob to tell her the story of the "cold ones". She soon discovers what Edward is.

Birthday pics

Saturday was the most beautiful day and we had so much fun in Seattle. We went to PF Changs for lunch...those lettuce wraps are so yummy. Then we walked down to Pike Place Market and out by the water. It just felt so warm and we of course had to get some ice cream. After that we headed to Safeco field to watch the Mariners play the Angels. It was an awesome game, lots of action and the Mariners won, yea! Kevin made me the most delicious chocolate cake...it was a fabulous birthday.














My Dad surprised me and came down for the
weekend. It was a very nice surprise.

Birthday Season Ends...

I am now officially 25! I have had some trouble dealing with the thought of turning 25, for some reason this age seems daunting to me. I know...I know...25 so young! But is it really? To some yes, very young but for me, no it is older. From turning 18-24 it still seemed okay to be those ages, they sound young. However, now that I am in my mid-twenties ages 25-30 seem to sound older. I think it has something to do with now I feel like I have to be just an adult. Yeah, I know I will always be a kid at heart, but now that I am 25 I have to act more adult like. I told this to my students and they all agreed with me that 25 is old. Of course anyone over 16 is old to them but not the point. The point is I was complaining about this 25th birthday and my sweet friend Lisa at school said that I need to have a birthday season! See a birthday season starts on the first day of the month and goes all the way through to your birthday. Now you celebrate all month long instead of just on your day. So before spring break Lisa gave me my birthday season. She had two bags full of 13 wrapped gifts. Each was numbered and I have been opening one each day. She said I needed to embrace my age with celebrating my birthday season. And I have to say it worked quite well, I enjoyed opening a little gift each day. Therefore, now that it is my birthday and my birthday season comes to a end I am happy to say...I think I will be turning 25 again next year. :)

"..It's root, root, root for the MARINERS..." And that we did! On Wednesday we went to Safeco Field and watched the Mariners play the Texas Rangers. It was the most beautiful day for a ball game. The Mariners played very well and we enjoyed every minute of it. We ate lots of treats and of course couldn't go to a Mariners game without eating some garlic fries....yum! It was a great night.

This last weekend we had our good friends Rick and Sarah's three year old boy Jake with us. Rick and Sarah left for Pittsburgh to go house hunting last Thursday night. They will be moving to Pittsburgh when the boys graduate in June. We will miss them lots and especially because we just love Jake. Kevin got to watch him on Friday while I was teaching, but they came and had lunch with me. He dazzled the girls I have lunch with saying, "he was just so cute". He really is just so cute and we had a great weekend playing everything from blocks to Thomas the Tank Engine. Kev was great at playing games with him to make sure he ate his meals. And of course we spoiled him with lots of treats. He also loved his baths, they progressively got better as we added more bubbles and more toys. Bedtime was always fun as there always seemed to be "monsters attacking" at 3am. He soon just slept with us and we learned quickly that he likes his space. By Sunday night Jake just slept with me and Kevin took his bed in the office. Church was also exciting as he was let out of Sunbeams before we were done so he went running through the chapel looking for us, he was so sad when he didn't see us right away. Jake is hilarious and came in while I was getting ready one day smiling and saying, "Kevin is silly!" "I put him in time-out." I laughed and said I am sure he deserved it. Anyway, Jake is a ball of energy and definately wore us out, but we loved it. Thank you Rick and Sarah for trusting us with your son and we will miss you when you leave.

My friend Brooke got engaged last May and last Saturday was the big day for her and her fiance Chris. I work with Brooke and was able to see all the planning, and preparing come together. She and Chris chose to get married at a place called the Ruins in downtown Seattle. It is normally a restaurant for members only. Her Dad happens to be a member and was the one to show them the place. They fell in love with it and chose March 22nd to be married. Kevin and I were able to attend the wedding and had a fantastic time with our other friends who attended from work
The ceremony began at 5:00, cocktail hour was next, shortly followed by a delicious dinner and of course dancing. They are a beautiful couple who are now honeymooning in the Carribbean. It was a fun night out, and I even got Kev to do a little dancing!
