My friend Brooke got engaged last May and last Saturday was the big day for her and her fiance Chris. I work with Brooke and was able to see all the planning, and preparing come together. She and Chris chose to get married at a place called the Ruins in downtown Seattle. It is normally a restaurant for members only. Her Dad happens to be a member and was the one to show them the place. They fell in love with it and chose March 22nd to be married. Kevin and I were able to attend the wedding and had a fantastic time with our other friends who attended from work
The ceremony began at 5:00, cocktail hour was next, shortly followed by a delicious dinner and of course dancing. They are a beautiful couple who are now honeymooning in the Carribbean. It was a fun night out, and I even got Kev to do a little dancing!

Happy Easter!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter! I love Easter! It is a wonderful time of year and is so exciting to be welcoming in springtime. But most importantly I love Easter because I love remembering our Savior Jesus Christ. It is hard to put into words other than I love him so much and am so grateful for his life, his example, his sacrifice, his resurrection. I feel that it is important to remember him everyday and not just Easter, but Easter is a great reminder of the pure love that is the Savior. I love teaching about the Savior and I was able to do that today with our young women. We did a "CSI Jerusalem" called "The case of the empty tomb" it was so fun. We were detectives uncovering the witnesses at the time of Jesus' resurrection. We read scriptures that helped us make our conclusions and see who the witnesses were. When it came down to the last witness it was the Holy Ghost testifying to us that Christ lives. And that is just what I wanted to share that I love my Savior so much, and I know he is our redeemer, I know he lived and died for us and especially that he still lives. It is because of him that we can live again and for that I am truly thankful. So Happy Easter and thanks for letting me share with you my testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ.

Bring on the March Madness!

Hey college basketball fans.....you have your bracket ready? We love this time of year! We're all about filling out the bracket and letting the good games roll :) Lucky for Kev he is on spring break and has already watched most of the first round games. We are a bit of a competitive couple and have a blast seeing who makes the better pics. We also always seem to be a divided house and never choose the same champion. This is okay.... all is fair in love and basketball. I also love doing the brackets with my class...it is a great prediction lesson :) So we keep the computer on ESPN all day and watch as the scores come in. My boys especially love it and get so upset when a team has "ruined" their bracket (as Clemson and Uconn have done to mine). Anyway, in the end we love seeing the upsets and Cinderella stories, even if our pics weren't so great. It is just great basketball! Can you guess whose champion pic is whose?

Sick of being sick...

So, not the most fun thing to blog about, but it is how I spent the last week. I am one to get a cold pretty easily and often, but this time it was a sinus infection and I was wiped out. I went to the doctor which by the way, what is the point of having a family doctor when they say, "yeah, I can get you in on March 31st"....knowing me I would probably have pneumonia by then. Anyway, so I just went to a walk-in clinic and the doctor was very nice, he told me I needed to stay home from work. I was like, "if you say so!" After getting my prescription filled, I then spent the next 4 days sleeping on my lovesack. Kevin was nice enough to take care of me (I am a little whiny) he made sure I had my liquids, my tissues, my cough drops and my soup. So, after alot of resting, blowing my nose and drinking water I finally feel better. However, I have realized I just walk right back into a "germ zone" when I go to work. It really is a endless cycle for me. So, if you are fighting this years nasty cold/flu that lingers on forever...I feel your pain.

Hooked on Harry...

So, being an elementary teacher you may have guessed that I have read many children's books. Well, yes I have, but I have to admit I never really got on the "Harry Potter" bandwagon. That is until January of 2007. When I first started at my current school the other teachers I work with were surprised to learn that I hadn't read the Harry Potter series. Then school started and I had a couple fifth graders who loved the series and were always reading them. I was like yea, kids who love reading, this is great! While doing some Christmas shopping I came across the first four Harry Potter movies on sale for $3.98 each. I thought that was a great deal so I bought them, having no real interest. However, January rolled around and we had our huge snowstorm which left us indoors for a week. Kevin and I decided to have a Harry Potter movie marathon. So each night we watched a movie and couldn't wait for the next night to watch the next one. Needless to say we loved them and I was hooked. My next goal was to read all six of the books before the seventh one came out in July. Even being busy with school I managed to read all of them before the school year ended. I was in love....with the characters...with the....plots....with the writing....with the books. I turned my students on to them who hadn't discovered them yet. We turned our classroom into "Hogwarts" at the end of the year. I was a bit obsessed. Kevin, however was fine with just watching the movies. He still didn't find it worth his time to read the books. Then he drove over to Utah for the summer and had an hour commute to Logan each day and then an hour back to Farmington. Therefore, he got hooked on Harry by listening to books 1-5 on tape while commuting each day. It was always cute when I would find him parked in the driveway still listening to finish a chapter. It wasn't until this last Christmas when he started the sixth book and then just last week he started the seventh book. He actually had to read the seventh one for himself. But many times over the last week I caught him reading yet another chapter. He would tell me, "just one more chapter". I would just smile because this was me a year ago. Kevin would make an excellent student to have in my classroom because he loves to discuss the ins and outs of the book, just like my students are suppose to do. I kinda just love the fact that he got hooked on Harry just like I did.
