No Phone Zone

I am not one to get on my soapbox and lecture about what I think you should be doing. But I am with Oprah on this one. I feel very strongly that we need to make our cars a no phone zone while driving.

I have complained(nagged) to Kev about how he is constantly talking on the phone while driving and he shouldn't be. Not only is he putting his own life at risk but all the others on the road. I just can't imagine being one of those tragic, horrible stories that you always hear about.

I am watching Oprah right now and I have been brought to tears as I have watched some of these personal stories shared.

Now that I am a mom I just feel things in a different way and I don't ever want my child to be a victim of distracted driving or responsible for. Of course not only my children but any loved ones. There are too many other things in this world that we can't control but distracted driving isn't one of them. We can prevent these tragic accidents from occurring.

That's why I have gone to Oprah.com and taken her no phone zone pledge. And I am encouraging you to do the same.

Just like I don't want my babies on the road with drunk drivers, I don't want them on the road with distracted drivers either.

A Great Day

I am coming to terms with the fact that age is simply just a number. As much as I would like that number to be 25 it is now 27. I am okay with that because I don't feel any older. However, when that number is 30 I may not feel this way. Anyway, I had a wonderful birthday. Kevin took the day off and we headed up north past Seattle to the tulip festival. It was beautiful!

There are fields and fields of beautiful tulips. We stopped at these fields real quick to get a picture.




I kept thinking about the planning that must go into planting the tulip bulbs in different color arrangements. I was impressed with how well the colors looked next to each other.


The coral pink color was stunning.


We went to Tulip Town and took Ty and Gracie on a trolley ride to see the fields.


They had an indoor portion with tulip bouquets displayed with their names. I loved this one.


On our way home we stopped at the great outlet malls and did a little shopping. Then we ate at PF Changs in Seattle which was delicious. When we got home I blew out my candles on my banana ice cream cake. Mmmmm yum!


It was a wonderful birthday and Kevin spoiled me with this huge gift full of lots of fun surprises. He is the best, most thoughtful, creative person.


So, my first day of being 27 was pretty great!

March Madness Recap...

So, this post really isn't about college basketball although we have watched alot of it this month. It seems like March blew in quickly and is blowing out just as fast, literally because we have had big wind storms here the last couple days. I just want to recap the month a little bit.

We had lots of fun at the beginning of the month getting ready for the twins first birthday. Their birthday was a big success with lots of love from family and friends.

Kevin spent a couple days in Phoenix attending a conference for work. He enjoyed the warm weather and catching up with his buddy Matt. We were happy when he came home.

12 month checks...

Gracie Ann: 17 lbs. 9 oz. she is staying on her same growth curve and the dr. said I could put cream cheese on her toast for extra calories, she loves to eat anything sweet, pretzels and cereal. She is a master crawler and loves to cruise the furniture. She likes to play pat-a-cake, peek-a-boo and loves to be chased. Ty is her best friend and will chat with him forever before falling asleep.


Ty-Ty: 22 lbs. 6 oz. He is our monster boy out to destroy the world, well at least our house anyway. He doesn't like when the nurse has to measure his head, I think he secretly thinks everyone is judging it's 90percentile size. Ty took his first steps at 11 months and hasn't looked back. Putting shoes on him, kinda tripped him up for a bit though. He loves all food, but still loves his bottles the best. He loves books, and playing with Gracie.

Crawling up the stairs has been so fun! Falling down them isn't so fun.


Of course rides in the Winnie the Pooh car is a daily must.


We are working on how to play "roll the ball".


Lots of loves for Mommy!


Ty makes us laugh everyday! We just love our boy.


They always want what each other has, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.


Sometimes we go for car rides! They love sitting by each other.


And sometimes we just like to read!


That's exactly what I do in my "me time" I read...

My favorites this month are:

The Hunger Games! Loved it! You have to get past the idea of a society like this and embrace the story. I did and found it very interesting. I got Kev to read it too.


Catching Fire, the second book in the Hunger Games! Again loved it. And can't wait for...


MockingJay, the third book in the Hunger Games series.


It comes out in August. So you have time to read the first two!

Birthday Continued

We were so lucky to have my mom, stepdad and sister here for Ty and Gracie's birthday. They were so sweet to come and party with us and were a big help too.

I would have given up on this creation had my sister not been there to help!

Party Pics

We had Gracie and Ty's first birthday party yesterday. It was a big success with lots of family, friends, food and fun! A few tears here and there were bound to happen since Ty nor Gracie wanted to take a good morning nap. They were just too excited to party!

We took them to the Rainforest Cafe for their birthday dinner. Sitting by the elephants was so much fun for them. They weren't sure what to think at first.

A walking fool...

My little Ty is walking! How can this be? He is just too little still. But no he thinks he is a big boy and has decided to scamper all about on his two legs. Well, he has done quite well taking his first few steps only a couple weeks ago and now he just gets up and goes. But today it happened... his first big fall! Don't get me wrong he falls everyday but not like today. Today he biffed it hard and the coffee table caught is face. Poor boy!
So it was his first fall with blood. Which is a big deal for me since I do not appreciate the sight of blood. However, I was quite calm and didn't make him take care of himself. He didn't want me putting pressure on it, so it took awhile for it to stop bleeding. But he was good while I bandaged him up. Good as new, right!

What a trooper! The cut is above the eye if you can't tell.


I am sure it is the first of many falls, but it still makes me sad.


My boy is getting so big!

Another month gone by!

Now that the twins are so mobile and incredibly busy it has become next to impossible to get good pics of them. And completely impossible to get a good pic of them together. However, we still try.

Here are some pics when we went down to Oregon for the week of Valentines Day. It was a nice week spent seeing my dad and sister, catching up with a couple friends, and alot of keeping Ty and Gracie away from Auntie's cat.

Kev and I got to go out for a very nice Valentines date thanks to my sister being the best auntie in the world. We love her and are so thankful for the love she shows our kids.


Ty is a busy boy, there is no other way to put it. He gets into everything and tries to destroy everything else. He is such a charmer and will put on a show when he knows you are watching. He took his first steps at my Dad's and has continued to work on his wobbly walking skills.


My little Gracie Ann. What can I say, she is everything a girl should be cute, sweet and has some major sass. She may be little but she holds her own. She loves to laugh and be tickled, and will chat your ear off.


We love to go see the temple when we are so close to it down in Oregon. It is my favorite temple and always will be.


We took the babes out for a Sunday stroll, just before it started to rain.


Other things we have enjoyed this month have been the Olympics. I don't like them as much as the summer ones, but I have enjoyed watching these especially when the US comes in first. We live in such a great country and it is fun to see the athletes represent us so well.

In my quiet time to myself I like to read and my favorite book this month was called The Help. I highly recommend it. We also saw the movie Dear John which I loved and Kev enjoyed it as well he said it wasn't too "chick flicky". It has been a good month! I am not ready for March because my babies turn 1, but I am looking forward to spring.
